Tawdry tales of true misadventures are what the crew at Bawdy Storytelling specialise in. As part of Litquake, San Francisco’s Literary Festival, some such tales can be heard at “Bawdy in the Alley.”
You know that friend who always has the best stories, the friend you call at 9 AM on Sunday morning to hear about their Saturday night trouble? Well, we’ve gathered a bevy of them together for you.
Bawdy Storytelling features real adults sharing their bona fide sexual exploits in 10 minutes or less to a crowd of eager listeners. These dirty storytellers are an eclectic mix of authors, poets, comedians and actors.
Get along on Saturday, October 9th to Aural in the Alley, Clarion Alley in the Mission 8:30 – 9:30pm and hear these real cheeky experiences turned into entertaining sex stories.
As part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, October 3rd brings a night of filthy words and famous characters to the Fringe Club. Presented by Imperial Panda, writers are asked to concoct short dirty sex stories about a celebrity or fictional character, which they then read in public. It should be an evening of fabulous imaginary debauchery and scandal. Should you be in Melbourne, I suggest you head along because all this naughtiness is free!
Yoko Ono is currently exhibiting her 1961 “instruction painting” Voice Piece for Soprano at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. The instructions are:
Scream
1. against the wind
2. against the wall
3. against the sky
Play the video to hear her demonstrating how this can be done. She lets loose with a howling abandon that makes me pity any neighbours her and Lennon may have had.
Ono said of her performance,
When I saw the microphone, I just felt like doing it. I think that’s very true of me in general. When I hear music, my body starts to move, and I’m dancing. Between a dance and a scream: well, that’s me.
