For those who dabble in writing saucy erotic literature for a female audience, here is the opportunity to be published in Filament magazine, to be judged by Violet Blue and to potentially be poached for her own erotica anthologies.
Filament magazine has the noble mission of “trying to provide something that’s genuinely for women in a world awash with popular opinion about what turns women on.” If it sounds like your sexy writing might suit that cause, enter soon: the deadline is January 31st! Your theme is water, and word limit 2,250. Oh and there’s a prize too:
First prize = £100 and publication in Filament magazine Issue 8
Two runners up = £50 each and publication in Filament magazine Issue 8
To enter, consult the terms and conditions and then:
1. Check out an issue of Filament magazine to see what we’re looking for.
2. Read our fiction guidelines.(PDF)
3. Write the most fantastic, filthy, luscious, dripping, delightful piece of fiction ever. Your story needs to meet our guidelines and ideally suggest the theme water.
4. Send your entry in the body of an email (not as an attachment) to fiction@filamentmagazine.com by 31 January 2011, 5pm GMT, subject line Filament fiction competition.
Condom bible bombing, sex toy recycling and rope shopping can all be acts of sexual citizenship. It may not occur to you when you are getting sexy, but there are things you can do to help the future of fucking. It’s like sexual composting! Ah wait, I’m not explaining it right… Sex educator, Midori, teaches how to not only be sex-positive, but act sex-positive.
One suggestion:
When the clerk at the hardware store, mountaineering or marine supply shop asks what you need the rope for, say nicely, “For a little bedroom adventure and fun.” Make sure to be sweet, short and matter-of-fact about it.
